A vintage car and a red carpet formed part of the party we hosted today for one of our precious patients, Ouma Schoeman, on her 100th birthday.
We could not let such a special occasion pass unnoticed, and so we decided to make the day for Ouma Schoeman and her family as special as we can. Tilla Havenga from Whispering Tree Tops joined hands and arranged with her brother, John Niemand, to drive her to Centurion Hospice in a stunning vintage vehicle. Ouma Schoeman remarked that the last time she had the opportunity to be taken for a ride in such a vehicle was 80 years ago, when she was 20 years old!
When asked what the secret to living such a long life is, this is what she came up with:
“Honour your father and your mother”
“Never go to bed angry”
“There is nothing wrong with a brandy now and again”!
Amongst our guests, which included a number of family members, were Griffiths Lubisi, Chairman of the Centurion Hospice Board of Governors and Ina Strijdom, DA Ward Councillor and member of the CH Board.
It was a privilege and an honour to spend the remarkable day with Ouma Schoeman and her family.
